As an Underwriting Officer, you will be responsible for evaluating insurance and reinsurance applications, assessing a range of insurance risks, and determining appropriate insurance premiums. You'll play a key role in developing sound, competitive policies that align with our underwriting guidelines and compliance standards.
Job Responsibilities:
• Assess individual and group insurance risks and determine appropriate terms and premiums
• Collect and review underwriting documentation and liaise with internal or external professionals as needed
• Draft policy conditions, maintain accurate underwriting records, and monitor risk portfolios
• Identify trends and loss drivers, and implement necessary corrections
• Contribute to the development and improvement of underwriting policies, processes, and systems
• Collaborate cross-functionally on premium handling and policy processing
• Provide expert guidance to less experienced underwriters and ensure quality standards are met
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in underwriting, with strong risk analysis capabilities
• Extensive knowledge of underwriting regulations, insurance policies, and reinsurance principles
• Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Good communication skills in English, Dutch, Spanish and Papiamentu, both verbally and in writing.
• Organizational and time-management skills.
